How Do I Get Started?
Getting started is easy! We recommend beginning with a 30-minute introductory trial lesson for $15. This gives you the opportunity to visit the studio, meet your instructor, and experience a lesson before enrolling.
After the trial, our team can help recommend the appropriate lesson length and find a regular lesson time that works for your schedule. If you decide to enroll for the semester, we’ll waive your $15 trial lesson fee.
What Ages Do You Teach?
We welcome students of all ages and experience levels, from young beginners to teens and adults. For our youngest students, we typically recommend beginning private piano lessons around 4½ years old, although every child develops at their own pace.
If you’re unsure whether your child is ready to begin, our $15 introductory trial lesson is a great opportunity to meet one of our teachers and see if private piano lessons are a good fit.
What Instruments Do You Teach?
Radiant Music Studio specializes exclusively in piano lessons, allowing us to provide a focused learning experience for students of all ages and skill levels.
How Much Do Lessons Cost?
Our 30-minute introductory trial lesson is just $15, and if you enroll for the semester afterward, we’ll waive the trial lesson fee.
Semester tuition starts at $248 per month for 30-minute weekly lessons. We also offer 45-, 60-, and 75-minute lessons, and we’re happy to recommend the best lesson length based on the student’s age, experience, and goals.
Students are welcome to join at any point during the semester, and tuition will be prorated based on the remaining lessons.
For students who aren’t able to commit to a full semester, we also offer flexible 4-lesson packages starting at $297.60.
Do You Offer Any Discounts?
Yes! We offer a sibling/family discount when two or more immediate family members are enrolled in lessons. We also offer a 5% discount when semester tuition is paid in full.
Do Students Need A Piano At Home?
Regular access to a piano or keyboard at home is important for making progress between lessons, but you do not need an acoustic piano to get started.
A quality digital piano can be an excellent option for beginning students. Our teachers and admin team are happy to recommend instruments based on your budget, space, and the student’s needs.
Where Do I Start If I Would Like To Purchase A Piano?
Buying your first piano can feel overwhelming, but we’re happy to help! Our teachers and admin team can recommend digital and acoustic pianos for a variety of budgets and experience levels.
If you’re interested in an acoustic piano, we can also connect you with trusted local piano showrooms and resources to help you find the right instrument.
How much should students practice?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer! Rather than focusing only on time, our teachers encourage students to practice with 1–2 specific goals each day.
Depending on the student’s age and level, practice may range from 15 minutes to an hour or more. Most importantly, we want students to practice purposefully and consistently so they can make steady progress while developing healthy practice habits.
Do You Offer Performance Opportunities?
Yes! We believe performing can be an exciting and valuable part of a student’s musical development. Radiant Music Studio hosts studio recitals throughout the year, giving students the opportunity to share what they’ve been working on with family, friends, and our studio community.
We also help interested students prepare for additional performance opportunities, auditions, festivals, competitions, and music examinations based on their individual goals.
What If A Student Has To Miss A Lesson?
We understand that conflicts come up! With at least 24 hours’ notice, students may reschedule up to two lessons per semester during one of our designated Flex Weeks.
Depending on the situation, we also offer several alternatives to help students stay on track:
- Flex Week Makeup — Reschedule the missed lesson during one of our designated Flex Weeks. Students may use this option up to twice per semester.
- Lesson-Time Swap — If you know about a conflict in advance, our admin team can help coordinate a possible swap with another student’s lesson time.
- Video Lesson — Send your teacher videos of the student’s current repertoire and receive personalized video responses and detailed feedback. This is a great option while traveling!
- Live Online Lesson — If you can’t make it to the studio but are still able to play, your lesson may be held online instead.
- Same-Week Opening — If another student cancels that week, we may be able to offer the available lesson time as an alternative.
Our team is happy to help determine which option works best for your situation. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are not eligible for a makeup, credit, or refund.
Can A Student Switch Their Lesson Time?
Absolutely! If you need to change your student’s regular lesson time, just reach out to our admin team. We’ll be happy to check your instructor’s schedule and available studio times to find an option that works for you.
Schedule changes are based on teacher and studio availability, so we recommend reaching out as early as possible—especially before the start of a new semester.
Do you offer in-home lessons?
At this time, all lessons are held in person at our South Pasadena studio. Our studio features three private lesson rooms equipped with grand pianos and modern teaching tools, giving students a comfortable environment designed specifically for learning piano.
Parents are welcome to sit in during their child’s lesson or relax in our comfortable lobby, where complimentary Wi-Fi is available.
Where Are You Located?
Radiant Music Studio is located in the heart of South Pasadena at 1132 Mission Street, Suite A, near the intersection of Mission Street and Fremont Avenue. We’re proud to have been part of the South Pasadena community for nearly 10 years!
Our studio is located on the second floor, with our entrance and parking lot accessible from Hope Street. We’re conveniently located near the 110 Freeway and just minutes from surrounding communities including Pasadena, San Marino, Alhambra, and Highland Park.
