Ms. Ellie is an LA native with a unique musical background and education. Since the age of 4, she started piano lessons, where she completed the Certificate of Merit program and actively participated in performance, placing in several competitions and festivals. Ms. Ellie received her Bachelors of Arts in Commercial Music with an emphasis in Composition and Arranging at Cal State Los Angeles. During her time at CSULA, she played piano and composed in many ensembles and collaborative projects. During her time working at a Special Education school following graduation, she was very moved by the students' affinity to music, leading her to pursue a Music Therapy degree from Saint Mary-of-the Woods College in Terre Haute, Indiana. She passed the CBMT Board Certification Exam and earned her Music Therapist (MT-BC) credential in 2020. She is currently working in the hospice setting where she uses music to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and families during their end-of-life journey.

With a background in both music and psychology, Ms. Ellie brings a unique blend of expertise to her teaching. Her teaching approach is comprehensive, covering various aspects of piano including technique, sight-reading, music theory, and interpretation. Because of her diverse musical background, she strongly believes in fostering a well-rounded musical education that not only equips students with the technical proficiency and artistry to excel but also instills in them a deep appreciation for music as a form of expression and communication.

Over the years, many of her students have achieved success in piano exams and competitions. In 2023, all students that participated in Certificate of Merit exams received State Honors and scored above a 92% on their theory tests. Ms. Ellie’s students have won in competitions such as the MTAC Sonata/Sonatina Festival and CAPMT Romantic/Impressionistic Competition. She takes immense pride in their accomplishments and is grateful for the opportunity to play a part in their musical journey.
